Cuando compramos un ordenador normal, estamos acostumbrados a configurar algunas cosas desde la BIOS del mismo. Esta BIOS es un pequeño programa que nos permite modificar diversos parámetros para controlar la velocidad del procesador, de la memoria RAM o de la gestión de los periféricos. Pero esto no lo tenemos en la Raspberry Pi. En su lugar tenemos un archivo de texto llamado config.txt donde tenemos un montón de variables para poder configurar varias cosas de nuestra Raspberry Pi, incluido el comportamiento del hardware.

Raspbian ofrece una herramienta de configuración muy completa a la cual se accede por el terminal de comandos, se trata de raspi-config. Si lo ejecutas en el terminal, verás una pantalla con una apariencia un tanto retro pero no te engañes, podrás configurar muchas cosas desde aquí, te lo cuento en este articulo.

The Raspi-config on the Raspberry Pi can be quite daunting at first as it has quite a few options and settings that you’re able to change.

In this guide, I am going to explain some of these options so that you will be able to understand them better and be able to make the appropriate changes. This guide is perfect for anyone who is just getting started with the Raspberry Pi.

If you’re in the desktop (GUI) version of Raspbian, then a lot of these options can be changed by going into the opening the settings application located in the menu.

In previous session, we have learned about Raspberry Pi board, its ports, its hardware and software requirements and learned to install OS on SD card for PI.

Once the OS (Raspbian Jessie) installed SD card is inserted into the Raspberry Pi with the screen, keyboard and mouse connected, we are ready to boot the Jessie first time. For this particular OS you don’t need Ethernet connection.

Once the power is started ON, you will see the power RED LED glowing.  The BLUE LED will start blinking at this stage, this means the OS (Operating System) is loading and the PI is checking all the drivers.

En esta entrada vamos a configurar una Raspberry Pi sin monitor ni teclado o ratón. Esto es lo que llamamos configuración “Headless” y es muy útil cuando queremos dedicar nuestro dispositivo a tareas como servidor web, domótica, o robótica, entre muchos otros ejemplos.

La solución más habitual es realizar el primer encendido conectada a monitor y teclado, configurarla a nuestro gusto y, finalmente, llevarla a su aplicación final. En esta entrada veremos que podemos saltarnos este paso y realizar una configuración totalmente Headless desde el primer arranque.

Puede parecer evidente pero si quieres configurar tu flamante Raspberry Pi y no tienes ni pantalla ni teclado, ¿cómo se hace entonces? Obviamente como mínimo, necesitas tenerla conectada a una red ethernet (por cable, claro) y a partir de ahí, saber si dirección IP para conectarte remotamente. En la primera parte de este artículo se vió cómo instalar y configurar una Raspberry Pi con unos consejos básicos para protegernos de accesos indebidos. Aquí se añadirán unas nociones elementales para fortificar nuestra Raspi frente a intrusos. Para aumentar la seguridad se verá cómo filtrar el tráfico con la herramienta IP Tables, cómo restringir a servicios como DHCP, OwnCloud o los accesos por SSH a IPs o redes conocidas. También algunas obviedades sobre seguridad física que pasan desapercibidas, la olvidada IPv6 que estará mejor desactivada si no se va a usar y dos aspectos que no están directamente relacionados con la seguridad pero igualmente importantes: Mantenimiento y monitorización.
