Whether you’re a seasoned programmer or new to coding and robotics, writing an Arduino program is fairly easy. In this article, I’ve outlined everything you need to know to get started with Arduino programming. 

While not mandatory, I recommend that you have…

• …an understanding of [Inputs and Outputs & Analog & Digital sensors](//something);
• …read The Simple Guide to Wiring an Electronic Breadboard](or know how to); and
• …an Arduino microcontroller (Uno, Mega, etc), USB Cable, and computer (any OS); or
• …downloaded the Arduino IDE or signed up for the cloud-based Arduino IDE.

So with all of that said, I’m going to spend the remainder of this article showing you the Four Steps to Writing an Arduino program. For those of you who have read my previous article, The Simple Guide to Writing an Arduino Program, this article will be a follow-up to that; instead of giving you a program to work with, I will teach you the steps to writing a program from scratch. All and all, this article will provide the “secret sauce” that you need to master to become good at creating ANY device using Arduino (robots included!).
