Walgreens Boots Alliance (WBA) has published its 2021 Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Report, which includes the company’s plans for advancing its sustainability agenda.
 
The company continues to strive to meet its customers’ expectations for responsibly sourced products that contribute to a healthy planet and community wellbeing. For example, WBA committed to reducing its carbon emissions by 30 percent by 2030 compared with 2019.
 
Packaging is also a large part of WBA’s sustainability agenda.

Barry Rust, Energy & Sustainability Manager at Tata Steel stated: “Sustainability is becoming a critical issue in the construction industry, as shown by the results detailed in our report. Responsible sourcing emerged as a particularly important theme, with the industry clearly prioritising a need to understand the provenance and impact of the materials used in construction. As a manufacturer of construction products certified to BES 6001 responsible sourcing standard, we are pleased to see such a positive response to responsible sourcing and plan to use the findings from the report to encourage greater adoption of sustainable materials in the construction industry."

Hy-Vee is reinforcing its commitment to environmentally and socially responsible seafood by announcing the adoption of its new Seafood Supplier Code of Conduct.

The company said that it aims to partner with seafood suppliers that share its commitment to quality products, environmental responsibility and fair labor practices. The labor expectations set out in the SCoC are aligned with international norms, standards and best practices, including the United Nations Global Compact, International Labor Organization. International Labor Standards, and Verité Responsible Sourcing Tool Sample Code of Conduct Provisions for Seafood Supply Chains.

Lingerie giant Victoria’s Secret has pledged to trace the sources of its wood-based fabrics, joining the ranks of fashion companies addressing human rights and deforestation, its parent company said.
In a new policy statement, parent company L Brands said it aimed to eliminate sources of wood pulp, used to make rayon, viscose and modal, that contribute to rainforest destruction or violate the rights of local people.
