Find One Person In The World w/ Cool App Startup Rendezwho - We're In | Startup Revolution | Scoop.it

Rendezwho Could Be Fun, Cool
Rendezwho matches you with anyone in the world, for life. Find your next friend. People all over the world are now connected to their new friend. Embark on an adventure to an unknown destination with the reward of meeting someone who is also looking for you.

Marty Note
I signed up though how their algorithm can use those questions to find a doppelganger I have no idea. The lunch question had no good answer so maybe "least bad" works too (lol). The romantic idea that 1. there would be an unknown friend somewhere in the world  and 2. that they would be on Redezwho may be a bridge too far only time will tell.

Cool Aggregate the Aggregators: List Hunt #8 - New Startups Millennials Care About - via UpStarted | Startup Revolution | Scoop.it

There are literally hundreds of new products released every day from every corner of the web. With that many ideas being marketed and released daily it is hard to keep up with everything. Even with great aggregators like Product Hunt, StartupLi.st, Gadget Hunt  and Beta List it is easy to get

Martin (Marty) Smith's insight:

Great Idea. You can never have too much aggregation in this world and UpStarted is right - too much cool stuff happening all over to keep track. Put some personal filtering (Digg like) on this bad boy and HUGE WINNER.

STEAL THIS MoMA Kickstarter Store Idea Because Crowdfunding = Where BUZZ Lives

STEAL THIS MoMA Kickstarter Store Idea Because Crowdfunding = Where BUZZ Lives | Startup Revolution | Scoop.it

Crowdfunding Where BUZZ Lives In Time For the Holidays
Working on http://www.curagami.com taught us important content marketing lessons such as:

* Buzz is HARD to create by yourself.
* Want buzz? Go to where the BUZZ is and mashup.
* Crowdfunding is highly SOCIAL and very BUZZ worthy.

* Crazy Guy / Girl in basement is a compelling aspirational story.

That last bullet is where the moneyball lives. The reason crowdfunding sites such as Kickstarter ROCK SEO and content marketing is great entrepreneurs share their cool ideas AND their social network. Platforms such as Kickstarter get to sit back and pick and choose what to help BLOW UP (or their algorithm does).

Here MoMA creates a curated content partnership with Kickstarter helping to add legitimacy to everyone's hand (for MoMA, Kickstarter and the projects curated into MoMA's holiday guide). What is stopping YOU from creating a similar partnership with a cool crowdfunding platform and featuring BUZZ worthy products you curate?

Answer: NOTHING other than the limitation of our merchandising imaginations and those boundaries should be few and far between :).M

Shyp | The Best Shipping In The World [Because THEY do it for YOU] Packs NYC

Shyp | The Best Shipping In The World [Because THEY do it for YOU] Packs NYC | Startup Revolution | Scoop.it

Shyp is the easiest way to ship anything. The mobile app provides an easy on demand shipping experience. Shyp is transforming how you send items by replacing the traditional hassles with a delightful experience.

Marty Note
Imagine a "Shipping Hero" coming to your place and handling your holiday shipping FOR YOU. What would that be worth? Shyp is betting its worth a lot and I agree.

I used to run a distribution business with Janet McKean called Found Objects. This time of year we were hunkered down shipping wholesale orders for the holidays. I've probably packed and shippped over 10,000 packages and it SUCKED.

Shipping is also a GAME played by giants on a field you can hardly understand or imagine. Shyp packs your package and secure the most secure and cheapest way to ship. DONE, where do I sign? Shyp launched in NYC and it may be a bit before they head to Raleigh / Durham. When they are here I'm there since the "joy" of shipping wore off long ago.

Minority Report? The 'Internet of Business Things' video interview via WSJ | Startup Revolution | Scoop.it

As more things get connected to each other, how can businesses capitalize on the growing 'Internet of Things?' PricewaterhouseCoopers chief technologist Chris Curran joins the News Hub with Sara Murray.

Marty Note
Turns out a forgettable movie, Tom Cruise's Minority Report,  may be prescient for our Internet of Things Future. Fascinating interview with WSJ's Sarah Murray and Price Waterhouse's Chris Curran explores tapping and mashing up the "real data' that's all around us now.

How can we replace guesses with real data.

Retail is "an interesting one" because it involves people and places. Emerging uses of sensors. Others are not so obvious like the power business where sensors can help "optimize the process".

10 Reasons Why You Ignore Google+ At YOUR Peril

10 Reasons Why You Ignore Google+ At YOUR Peril | Startup Revolution | Scoop.it

Why should you use Google+?There are lots of good reasons to pay attention to Google+, but for me it comes down to these three:

  • Search is becoming social
  • Google+ Authorship is becoming a filter for quality content
  • Google+ has the best user experience of any social network

Visit the link to find additional insights, resource links, and useful Google+ information.

Via Lauren Moss
Martin (Marty) Smith's insight:

I agree with all three of those reasons and would add these 7 ideas about why you can no longer afford to ignore GooglePlus:

  • Google Plus is NOT a social net per se, it is a "revolution in online communication" and a "tool" says B. L. Ochman.
  • If you don't figure out how to use this new tool your competitor is sure to do so and then PAIN will result.
  • Other social nets are becoming endless tit for tat smackdowns (you gain 1,000 followers they gain 5,000) so why play that losing game when GPlus is almost always a blue ocean?
  • No better conversation tool than GPlus (period) and this time is all about the social conversation.
  • No one has millions of followers yet on GooglePlus (or very few do) so your chances of being followed back are excellent AND GooglePlus promotes conversations not just follows.
  • Since GooglePlus is a TOOL it is invested in making YOU the publisher successful not requiring you to make it successful like most social nets.
  • Its's Google.

One final thought. I've lived through several major tipping points such as the move to commerce from brochureware, the mobile revolution and the social revolution RIGHT NOW feels like the GPlus Tipping point.

3D Printing Is HOT & Bound To Generate Cool Support Work For Crafty Starutps | Startup Revolution | Scoop.it

3D printing is a process of making a three-dimensional solid object of virtually any shape from a digital model.3D is achieved using an additive process.

Martin (Marty) Smith's insight:

3-D printing can't get any HOTTER. We had Tom Simon come show us the latest and greatest in 3D printing last week at Atlantic BT. I suspect there will be all kinds of "fast prototyping" and "mobile warehousing" offshoots from 3D printing for the wise #startup #entrepreneur.

Why Slideshare ROCKS Content Marketing and SEO [for Startups]

Why Slideshare ROCKS Content Marketing and SEO [for Startups] | Startup Revolution | Scoop.it

Slideshare may be the most powerful content marketing tool around. Few realize its power so your Internet marketing team's Slideshare use could be disruptive.

Martin (Marty) Smith's insight:

Slideshare Is Content Marketing For Startups
If you are a startup and you are NOT putting all those slide presentations you are creating to get money and define your market on Slideshare you are NUTS. I've met with many startups and they are all overwhelmed and under-contented.

The last thing any of these geniuses think about is creating online communication to define their passion. They ALL create presentations and maybe, just maybe, taking an extra 10 minutes to load those presentations up to Slideshare may kill the proverbial two birds with a single stone.

Sharing your slides on Slideshare isn't as robust as I would like Startups to attack content marketing, but it beats NOTHING. AND I'm betting most will find it easy to accomplish save for one issue - protecting secrets.

Here's the thing. What you are doing isn't as secret as you think (by half) and the more feedback you get the sooner the better your chances of success. If something feels uniquely yours remove it from your presentation or mask it. If you are smart enough to create a cool app or the next generation SaaS tool then you can figure a way to get your content on Slideshare. Right?

Mapillary: See The Map, Add Photos To the Map, Be The Map | MIT Technology Review | Startup Revolution | Scoop.it

Mapillary is a cool idea. Why run up and down city blocks taking pictures when your customers, advocates and contributors could do that for you. What it means to be a MAP is changing fast.

Maps used to be those things you couldn't fold back up. Now maps are evolving into evolving stage sets. You need one "map" when its six pm and time for dinner.

You need another map when you need groceries or toys for Christmas. As the line between virtual and real world collapse "map" is going to take on many new meanings.

With GPS "Map" means place, time and tribe. Why tribe? Because, as FourSquare proved our phones are smart enough to know when our friends' phones are around us.

Phones become living avatars walking a digital landscape by proxy, roads we wold walk if we could TRON-UP and jump into the machine. Since we can't become digital just yet MAP will take on many new meetings.

Extend our new "map thinking" a little further and maps become games, commerce and content. These new "digital maps" will be how we tell time, know and relate to our friends and understand PLACE.

Mapillary sees the future. They know maps are more than those things we used to not be able to fold back up :).

How Netflix & Amazon Change Content Curation & What That Means For Startups

How Netflix & Amazon Change Content Curation & What That Means For Startups | Startup Revolution | Scoop.it

Netflix & Amazon play the online merchandising game differently than their bricks to clicks former print catalog or brick and mortar retailers. The WAY both these brilliant companies approach content creation and curation present opportunities for starts including:

* Create SaaS tools that spin and snip content in similar ways.

* Learn to tag information with new dimensions.

* Once data has new dimensions create merchandising tools.

* Increase the ease and use of predictive modeling online.

* Use cloud based computing to achieve more "server side" power.

* Make decisions in near real time.

* Create crowdfunding systems to relieve financial & operational pressure.

* Create User Generated Content engines such as Netflix's reviews-based "SMART" system.

The content area is RICH with startup potential. Online merchants and their Software As A Service (SaaS) inbound content marketing cousins must find ways to spin and snip information into more and more powerfully intelligent "buyer assist" systems.

Startups who find ways to convert DATA into information and information into buying aids have a rich future ahead. The future always converts better and we are about to take an order of magnitude leap in online conversion, engagement and merchandising thanks to a new generation of Netflix-like "merchandising" tools.

First Example of A SpinSnip [New Content Marketing Tool]

First Example of A SpinSnip [New Content Marketing Tool] | Startup Revolution | Scoop.it

A SpinSnip is moving content from one dimention to another to maximize ROI. SpinSnip Tools is a suite of curation and content marketing tools that help move content within the owned, paid, earned and curated ecosystem increasing return and lowering content creation costs with each SpinSnip.

Martin (Marty) Smith's insight:

SpinSnip
SpinSnip is a suite of content marketing tools we are developing to help marketers lower content creation costs, know what content generates ROI. and connect top of the funnel (traffic generation) to the bottom of the funnel (conversion). SpinSnip means moving content from one bucket to another in order to maximize ROI. SpinSnip may move Paid Content to Earned Content or Eearned To Owned increasing return with each SpinSnip.

We are creating 5 SpinSnip Tools:

SpinSnip Curator (Content Marketing).
SpinSnip Analyst (Content Marketing Analytics).
SpinSnip Marketer (Lead Gen, Branding, "Advertising").

SpinSnip Crowds (Crowdfunding & Crowdsourcing)
SpinSnip C Level (Content Marketing for C Level).

SpinSnip Curator helps create a workable content development framework by tagging every piece of content created in multiple dimensions and then SPINNING the content dial to see the most helpful view.

The post below Spins and Snips content from three sources. While this SpinSnip could almost stand on its own most will need editing to meld paragraps to graphics and Vice Versa.

SpinSnip Curator Dashboard Example
We LACK the tools needed as content marketers to effectively know what content needs spinning and what should be snipped, so we are working on that. Working on a set of tools content marketers can use to know what content is achieving critical mass and why.
