White House press briefing goes off-camera, no audio broadcast allowed

White House press briefing goes off-camera, no audio broadcast allowed | Simply Social Media | Scoop.it

The White House press briefing has seen better days. Lately, in fact, the briefing is often not seen at all.

For four days last week, representatives for President Trump skipped the usual on-camera briefing to take questions off-camera. This wasn't the first time the White House had taken this step, but this month has brought an added twist.

In response to networks like CNN that decided to broadcast audio of the briefing, even without a visual to accompany, the White House barred attendees from doing that, too. Monday's briefing -- the White House termed it a "gaggle," a more informal set-up, though it took place in a format much like a briefing -- was likewise off-camera, with audio broadcasting forbidden.

Even when they have done on-camera briefings, White House press secretary Sean Spicer and his occasional fill-in, deputy press secretary Sarah Huckabee-Sanders, have done their part to further marginalize the briefing, routinely responding to reporters' questions by professing ignorance.

Let's just cancel the fake press briefings!

Survey: Small Businesses Prefer Social Media Marketing | Business 2 Community | Simply Social Media | Scoop.it

Small businesses prefer to conduct their marketing efforts on social networking sites over location-based marketing, according to a May 8 article by Fox News. Given the word-of-mouth nature and sharing features of sites such as Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and Pinterest, 97 percent of business owners said that they use these platforms to promote their businesses.

Only 17 percent of businesses say they utilize location-based ads, such as Foursquare, in promoting their products and services. Additionally, 66 percent of small business owners are optimizing their website for mobile platforms, reflecting an evolving use of the web and social sites. Just 34 percent of business owners say they have no desire to use social media in the future. Many believe that they don’t have a demand from customers to utilize such platforms....

Most important, 61 percent of small business got no return on investment...

Rosie Ioane Mulipola's curator insight, May 9, 2013 7:05 PM

I found this article quite interesting because it explains how social media can actually be a tool in being your primary marketing strategy. The artile lists out ways it can help and what the cons are because it doesn't work for everyone. This strategy can potentially show success if you are on a very small budget, for example small businesses or starter businesses, using social media is an inexpensive way to get their brand or information across to the public. also targeting an audience active on social media is another way of earning success while saving money but research on this should be done to ensure that your audience is highly active on social media and that your products or services are what this group of people whatever age you're targeting is what they may be interested in. This article goes on to list other potential ways a bussiness can gain success through use of social media while also stating that a primary strategy does work well but rarely works as your only strategy, in other words as your businees progresses and changes so does the need for strategy in order for your service or product to reach other potential markets and not only those on social media.

A Handy Guide for Marketing a Small Business on YouTube - SocialTimes

A Handy Guide for Marketing a Small Business on YouTube - SocialTimes | Simply Social Media | Scoop.it

YouTube newbies should check out The Small Business Guide to YouTube, a helpful microsite that shows a step-by-step guide for getting started with YouTube marketing.

Created by Simply Business, this one-page destination covers everything from creating good content to preventing legal issues. With so many instructions to read through on YouTube’s help board, this site speeds up the process by briefly summarizing all the FAQs on one page and then making detailed answers easy to find. The page is designed as a flow chart that takes you through a series of “yes” or “no” questions that lead to the answers, which are outlined in a slide show presentation.

It starts with the basics — “Do you know how to create a YouTube account?” — and moves into more complicated territory, like the various monetization options and how to measure your success in YouTube analytics. Every time you answer “no,” you’ll see a new slide that’s filled with checklists, videos, and links to articles to fill you in on what you don’t already know. (And who doesn’t love saying no?)...
