Laura Liberty's annual St. Patrick's Town is open and is a fun whimsical place to visit for the holiday. She has shops with themed clothes, decorations, fun gifts, and more. Then there is an abundance of green beer, dancing, riding of the giant rainbow slide and flipping gold coins, etc. There are many places in the sim to play and interact with, always making it a favored holiday destination.

Nusquam means nowhere in Latin. At first glance, Nusquam appears to be an isolated and forgotten northern island - perhaps somewhere in the Canadian Maritime Provinces. The setting is late summer, cool arctic air has already arrived portending the blizzards to come. But then you look closer -- and explore the intriguing train tunnel which has long since been abandoned and contains a comfortable neon lit bar. The trains themselves have been upended in some explosion a while ago

There is something serenely majestic about the sim Suomi, and it's apparent from the moment one arrives that it's a special place. Designed by Shen Molinaro, the region includes mythological and cultural information from Sighvatr Sturluson (Worthaboutapig resident, also the sim owner) — the two having collaborated on the sim's concept — with additional contributions from Sati (Satyamalaak), Skaði Sturluson (Edenjane765), and Èirã Sturlson (Dahlia Endsleigh).

The city of Ironwood Hills is now partially flooded – beware of sharks! – and deserted. On the hilltop is an old school, some sad apartment buildings and in the area on the way down a creepy motel. Upon arrival you are handed a mesh flashlight, so you can navigate in the rainy night (yeah, bring an umbrella, it rains non stop). Because the darkness would make the pics a bit too difficult to show the sim, I used a more ‘bright’ windlight for this blogpost.

Are you ready to add some spice to your virtual life? Second Life offers many romantic hideaways to relax, cuddle, flirt, dance, go on dates or even explore. Surprise your partner with flowers, chocolates, a dinner with a stroll, or a picnic in the park. You can choose from plenty of romantic places and surprise your partner with sweet moments in a secret nook. If you are just starting a virtual relationship, it is important to organize the romantic date in advance. Choose the place where the date will take place. Remember it is very important to make a good impression. Be aware of very noisy places or crowded because they are bad for those who want to create a romantic mood.

Earlier today I browsed through the Destination Guide and came across Nox Arcanus. The latinist in me cringed, as grammatically it ought to be nox arcana (roughly "a mysterious night")... Still, I got intrigued and so I went on my way.
The landing point is somewhere under water. Until everything rezzed I thought I got the wrong SLurl. Nox Arcanus turned out to be a small town with an abandoned, apocalyptic appearance, beginning with the church closest to the landing point. There's an eerie looking sun and comets of sorts visible in the dark sky. You might want to bring an umbrella, as there's also a steady downpour.

Today I explored a watery, dreamy, location called: Everlong. Filled with wonderfully decorated spots, this is certainly a place to find yourself a comfy chair (plenty of those!) and enjoy the environment. The name of the sim includes a YouTube link, which I of course checked and turned out to be a 42 minutes long…

Suomi, or the name of Finland in the unique Finnish language, wowed me with lighting and atmospherics. Suomi, much like the nation of Finland itself, is heavily forested with vast expanses of lakes and waterways. The season is here is winter, with the Aurora Borealis (northern lights) dancing high in the sky above a snowy and quiet landscape.

Now open at LEA22, designed by Carmsie Melodie, is Funky Junk, a wild mish-mash of colorful debris with a strong dose of playfulness. As the creator describes it, Funky Junk "is a whimsical, post-apocalyptic, mini-world where trash and junk are truly valued — rust is the new black here! Everything at Funky Junk — including the inhabitants — are made of, or contain, cast-offs of all shapes, sizes and types. Along with unique appearances, Funky Junkians have a haphazard building style and take recycling very, very seriously. It's a community. You'll see Funky Junkians at work, at home, in school and even seeking medial assistance."

Imesha is a curious city that combines old SL (free) buildings with the most recent stuff. It’s like Neo Kowloon and Blade Runner City mixed, but better — a visual festival.

The Trace, Kylie Jaxxon's seasonal sim, has just reopened, emerging from winter with a stunning new immersive environment co-created with designer Elvira Kytori, and it's certainly the most impressive Trace to have appeared in the ongoing series. Everywhere are scenic views, panoramic vistas and beautiful details that will delight explorers, photographers and couples alike.

Ironwood Hills, designed by Cyrus Knight (josman2088) and Jestyr Knight (Zeke Jestyr), is perhaps not the neighbourhood we’d ideally like to pick to live. When I last visited, the town appeared to be deserted, caught within a forever twilight of swirling mist and rains, thrall to the soulful wailing of forgotten sirens. Now occupying a new location, the story of Ironwood Hills continues – and the darkness shrouding it has not lifted; and as with the last build, this is a design which makes superb use of space, creating the feeling that the region is much larger than the supplied 65,536 square metres.

The sim description says it all: "An ethereal yet lonely landscape." It is set in winter, and is very quiet.

At the center of the Inner Delta of Heterocera sits the impressive Moth Temple of Iris. The first telehub on that continent (and still an incredibly busy place today!) the Temple (pictured below) is a delicate but towering wooden structure designed by Xenon Linden. Almost all of the sims in Heterocera are named after species of moths; the continent itself is named for the sub-species of insect by which moths are categorized. You can find these lovely little creatures all over the Moth Temple, including fluttering around the lamps that line the boardwalk surrounding it at dusk.

It's an island, sort of. It's a piece of a jigsaw puzzle. It's fields and bales and horses and a tractor. Essentially it's just open space at Nusquam, and where it isn't then the packed-in clutter of small, murky interiors only serves to emphasise the openness outside. It's a walk. It's a stroll. It's a…

Originally designed by the "moles" of the Linden Department of Public Works (LDPW), Bay City opened its doors to residents in the spring of 2008. A themed city with double-prim land, it has been described as embodying "the American urban experience, between 1940 and 1965, perhaps best typified by Chicago circa 1950 and marked by a distinct deco influence." There were originally 22 sims in the Bay City on the main grid, and 20 on the teen grid. With the integration of the teen grid in 2012, the two parts of Bay City were united, and four additional sims were added. A map of the city, created by Marianne McCann for SL9B, is shown below.

I visited Free Spirit Farms today and my immediate reaction brought me back to my childhood when I would visit my grandparents on their farm. I could almost smell the fresh scent of strawberries mixed with the scent of sap from the pine trees and hear off in the distance my grandfather riding his old ’51 John Deere Tractor. Just being here made me miss my Grandparents and it made me smile.
