Second Life Destinations

At the time of my last visit, It’s a New Dawn presented a rugged, rural island settings which in some respects put me in mind of the Scottish islands. Since then, and unsurprisingly, much has changed; however, the rural look and rugged feel to the region remains, although the location now might be somewhat closer to the Mediterranean than the North Sea.

Designer Silvermoon Fairey didn't stop after creating one stellar winter location — December Will Be Magic Again (read here from several days ago) — she also created 50 Words for Snow, located in the sky above her lovely sim A Painter's Link. In contrast to the essentially flat landscape of December Will Be Magic Again, 50 Words for Snow is a hillier location that offers several distinct but interrelated scenes.

Silvermoon Fairey's lovely sim, It's a New Dawn (read here), has long been favorite for photography and exploration. Now, high above the original landscape (still open to visitors), silvermoon has created December Will Be Magic Again, a gorgeous wintery land aglow in a shimmering golden light. Prominently positioned on the far horizon stands a stately manor house (image above), flanked on its sides by two smaller homes and a small frozen-over pond.

I discovered this sim recently and I really enjoyed the visuals provided by the builders. It was a great place to get some great photos of. I love countrysides and landscapes and there’s no shortage of those here along with plenty of farm animals and a few neat automobiles.

Silvermoon Fairey has an uncanny knack for creating magical scenes with deliberately limited color palettes, as witness her current installations 50 Words for Snow (read here), December Will be Magic Again (read here) and It's a New Dawn (read here from 2015). Her wondrous A Painter's Link dazzles with shades of gold, copper, greens, reds, oranges and browns, as if she had taken a bucket of paint and splashed it onto the scene to create an enthralling landscape.

Nachdem ich in den letzten beiden Tagen jeweils relativ neue Regionen aus Second Life vorgestellt habe, gibt es heute etwas von einer bekannten Region, über die ich auch schon ein paar mal selbst gebloggt habe. Zum ersten Mal bei meinen Wintertipps 2013, als der Sim noch "Dawn of Radiance" hieß. Gefolgt von je einem Sommerbericht von 2014 und 2015 unter gleichem Namen. Dann ging es nach einer SL-Pause unter dem Namen "It's a new Dawn" weiter, worüber ich 2016 berichtet hatte.

Ownerin Silvermoon Fairey hat in all den Jahren auch schon öfter ihre Region für ein paar Monate (oder auch nur Wochen) aufgegeben. Doch sie liebt das Gestalten von eigenem Land in SL und so kam sie immer wieder zurück.

Heute gibt es von mir nur einen kurzen Tipp, denn es handelt sich hier nicht im den eigentlichen Sim von Silvermoon. Denn der sieht noch genauso aus, wie in meinem Bericht vom Sommer dieses Jahres. Die Winterlandschaft befindet sich auf einer Plattform in 430 Meter Höhe und ist wesentlich kleiner als die komplette Region. Das habe ich aber erst gemerkt, als ich schon einige Fotos geschossen hatte. Jedenfalls hatte ich dann keine Lust mehr, noch einen weiteren Wintersim zu besuchen, denn meine Wintertour 2016 ist auch so schon anstrengend genug.
