Baptism of Fire by Mihailsk - Second Life

Baptism of Fire by Mihailsk - Second Life | Second Life Destinations | Scoop.it

Dido Haas invited me to visit the July exhibition, at Nitroglobus Roof gallery: “Baptism of Fire” by Mihailsk.

Once again Dido features a new face in the art scene and the exhibtion is quite outstanding.
The artist is Mihailsk. He’s Greek and in Second Life since 2014. Mihailsk started photography in Second Life and according to his own words, that was when he really started his journey in Second Life:
It was January 2020 when I started this beautiful journey in light, colors and emotions. A journey to fantastic places and loved persons, trying to capture special moments in eternity. Sometimes with a smile, sometimes with pain. Each of my images is a part of me, an expression of my mood at that particular moment.

Ann Owiti's insight:

BAPTISM OF FIRE':

Meeting Dido Haas was definitely a milestone in my journey in the art world, as she challenged me to 'travel inside myself' for this exhibition. I accepted that challenge and tried to express thoughts and emotions, using only my body and the presence or absence of light. I dared to make myself the main subject of my frame, something I usually don't do.
Without colors, mostly without unnecessary objects, the more I traveled the more discoveries I made. I came closer to me than usual. I never imagined how exciting, painful and liberating this journey could be…
Sometimes it felt like a dip in the deep waters. It was a journey in light and darkness, like Apollo and Hades were my companions. And there I found my 'new me'.

Moments from this trip is the content of my first exhibition, with which I introduce myself and my 'new me' to you.
And I am happy this 'baptism of fire' is taking place at the Nitroglobus Gallery.
Thanks, Dido Haas, for the challenge…

I don't see myself as an artist, I am a passenger with open eyes in this journey of life and second life…

Mihailsk’s Baptism of Fire in Second Life

Sometimes the best art exhibits come from a chance encounter. Dido Haas, owner and curator of Nitroglobus Roof Gallery (and a talented photographer in her own right), bumped into Mihailsk while he was visiting Nitroglobus in March. A couple of days after that first encounter, he posted an image taken at the gallery, which was then displaying Daantje Bons’ work (see here for a review of that exhibition) – and this image led to Dido looking through Mihailsk’s Flickr steam and then approaching him to exhibit at Nitroglobus.

The Nitroglobus Roof Art Gallery, the modern art gallery curated by Dido Haas, opens this time its doors to a piquant artistic exhibition. The central theme is BDSM and submission. I am, maybe, the worsts person in the world who can explain this topic, but I will do my best.

"Proud and happy to announce a brand new exhibition at 'my part of Nitroglobus': miu miu miu's Stamp.

When I asked miu a while ago if she was willing to exhibit at my part of Nitroglobus, I was so glad she said yes. She told me she found some images in an old folder, which she had not posted or exhibited on any platform before and which would be fitting well to the walls of Nitroglobus.  Dido Haas

Baptism of Fire : Mihailsk’s Transformative Journey – Second Life

Baptism of Fire : Mihailsk’s Transformative Journey – Second Life | Second Life Destinations | Scoop.it
At the Nitroglobus Gallery, explore the personal journey of an artist as he is challenged to look within himself. His images serve as a guide, marking the key moments along this fascinating trail. Baptism is purification. The rite of splashing water on a baby's forehead or immersing them in water symbolizes a kind of purification…
