Teaching and Learning - Quotes for Reflection on Why Personalize Learning

Teaching and Learning - Quotes for Reflection on Why Personalize Learning | Science News | Scoop.it

An educator from New Zealand has compiled a set of quotes around teaching and learning that are reflective of why we should personalize learning.  A few are selected here and begins with this graphic from Dr. Seuss, "Oh, the places you'll go!"  Is this quote something we would want students to be thinking about each day?

From the author:

"Students are born with a powerful desire to learn. Everything we do as parents and teachers must ensure that this powerful desire is kept alive. If there were to be one thing to be continually assessed it would be this desire..."

'We should turn out people who love learning so much and learn so well that they will be able to learn whatever needs to be learned.' - John Holt

'All human beings are born with unique gifts. The healthy functioning community depends on realizing the capacity to develop each gift'. - Peter Senge

'what a child can do today with assistance, she will be able to do by herself tomorrow'. - Lev Vygotsky

The principle goal of education is to create men and woman who are capable of doing new things, not simply repeating what other generations have done'. - Jean Piaget

'We are shaped and fashioned by what we love' - Goethe

'You cannot teach anybody anything. You can only help them discover it within themselves.' - Galileo

What If Humans Were Twice as Intelligent? | What If We Were All as Smart as Isaac Newton? | Science News | Scoop.it
If humans were twice as intelligent, we would be more fulfilled on an individual scale, but society as a whole would be just as conflicted as it is now.

Abraham Maslow and the All-American Self

Abraham Maslow and the All-American Self | Science News | Scoop.it
Some conservatives have criticized Abraham Maslow — the psychologist known for “self-actualization” and the “hierarchy of needs” — for promoting a cult of the self.
Racheli Ninio's curator insight, December 26, 2014 3:49 AM

I chose to scoop this article because he shows a critical and interesting perspective of Maslow's theory. All the articles and researches that I learned until now were very "Politically correct" and without criticism about Maslow's theory.
