Google's September 2011 patent that was filed for a wearable display device was granted this week, which suggests that its envisioned heads-up display device can be controlled by infrared markers in the form of devices worn on the hands, such as fake fingernails or rings. The patent says, “A wearable marker may take the form of a ring, a bracelet, an artificial fingernail configured to be affixed to a fingernail, a decal configured to be affixed to a fingernail, or a glove, among other possible wearable items."

You are probably asking yourself how could you utilize augmented reality in your life. But actually more to the point...why should you? Augmented reality has many possible benefits and applications. In this case, it is being used to capture moments of everyday life. Photos and video clips only allow the viewer a snippet of a significant moment, but imagine if your viewers could feel as if they were immersed in your moment, witnessing your perspective as it occurred. That's why augmented reality is valuable and should be part of everyday life.
