C'est un coup de fil certes un brin pénible, mais d'une affligeante banalité. Il y a quelques jours, un journaliste du magazine américain Time raconte avoir reçu un appel sur son portable d'une jeune femme, une certaine Samantha West, qui voulait des informations sur sa couverture médicale. En clair: elle voulait lui vendre une assurance.
Mais malgré la voix "claire et engageante" de son interlocutrice, le rédacteur explique avoir eu comme un doute. Face aux questions et aux réponses parfaites de cette chère Samantha, une espèce de réflexe venu du fond des âges de l’Homme l’a saisi. Et lui a fait dire que la personne à laquelle il répondait ne pouvait pas être humaine.
Une confusion qui n'arrive pas tous les jours et qui colle d’autant plus les miquettes à l'écoute de la conversation entre le reporter et la mystérieuse femme-machine. Quand ce dernier lui demande "êtes-vous un robot?", voilà en effet la réaction de Samantha :
"The growing power of computer vision is a crucial first step for the next generation of computing, robotic and artificial intelligence systems. Once machines can identify objects and understand their environments, they can be freed to move around in the world. And once robots become mobile they will be increasingly capable of extending the reach of humans or replacing them."
La cybernétique est une industrie en pleine expansion. Pour cause, les robots font de plus en plus partie de notre quotidien et devraient sous peu, par mimétisme, se comporter comme les humains.

A group of European researchers has released the first version of a cloud computing platform for robots that will help them take advantage of powerful virtual resources. Essentially, they’re treating robots like any other device — desktop, tablet or mobile phone — running web applications, only robots can learn from each other and can do a lot more than just update screen displays. The project, carried out by a team at ETH Zurich, is called RoboEarth and its linchpin is a cloud software platform called Rapyuta. The way it works is pretty simple at a high level: robots communicate with a cloud-based application platform that carries out computation tasks and connects to a cloud database full of information such as maps, images, language, as well as to other web services. The robots themselves are pretty much hardware terminals equipped with sensors and moving parts but limited on-board processing power or data storage.
Robots have been speculated to be the furure for many years now, this artcle informs us that a cloud has been created for robots. The robots are planned to be treated just like any device we use today eg. mobile phones. Robots will certainly be part of the future just a matter of when.

De plus en plus perfectionnés, les robots occupent deux fonctions pour les êtres humains : militaire et soutien. Mais qu'en est-il de leurs droits ?
Théorisées par Isaac Asimov et John W. Campbell, les trois lois de la robotique sont des bases fixées comme axiomes nécessaires à une vie en symbiose entre êtres humains et machines dotées de réflexion. Un verrou censé empêcher toute survenue d’une agression par des interactions logiques et fonctionnant en vase clos. Elles sont présentées la première fois dans cette configuration :
« Un robot ne peut porter atteinte à un être humain, ni, restant passif, permettre qu’un être humain soit exposé au danger. Un robot doit obéir aux ordres que lui donne un être humain, sauf si de tels ordres entrent en conflit avec la Première loi. A research group lead by Professor Tachi at Keio University in Japan is currently working on one of the first incarnations of an avatar that incorporates some pretty cool virtual robotics technology. By slipping on a pair of virtual reality gloves and a helmet, you would be able to control and see the world through your avatar’s eyes. The concept behind this virtual robotics technology is really called Telexistence, and it allows us to control a real avatar robot.
A step up from remote controlled robots doing dangerous jobs, saving potential lives. This could allow for more dextrous and accurate controls without the remote-control middleman and instead with direct input.
If these were to make it into society then it could vastly change the structure of things, with work being done without even leaving the home.
This particular website gives information on the creation of avatar/robots that humans will be able to control. This will change the future, technology will allow humans to create there own avatar in the form of a robot, allowing humans to stay home whilst there avatar/robot goes out to do there daily needs or to even do there jobs at a single touch of a button, this technology will vastly change how the world works and runs.
Technology such as this which provides an avatar that can be operated remotely has infinite potential to make the lives of countless people easyer such robots provide an "out of body" experience and when perfected can enable working remotly and remotly carrying out daily chores. With strides like this technology is taking remarkable strides into how we are shaping our future.

It's maybe not rationeal thinking but i find this so scaring. Imagine if it was you on the table and the robot arms start moving above you - huuuu it's freaking scaring ;-)
I agree this can be scary, however you can expect completely autonomous surgical robots to appear in the very near future. that will be much more scarier than a human controlled one, that's for sure
