An owner of 4 pit bulls that mauled and killed a woman in her 60's in a suburban area north of Los Angeles has been convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to 15 years to life. Given the criminal conviction, a civil claim (which would be tried under a lower burden of proof) would most likely result in a judgment for wrongful death against this dog owner as well.
