It is never a good idea to get out of your vehicle on the freeways of Los Angeles. In fact, California Vehicle Code section 21960 restricts persons on bicycles, non-motorized vehicles, and pedestrians on or along any highway except in emergency situations. In case of an urgent situation such as car trouble or a flat tire, drivers should always try to get their vehicle to the right in an emergency lane and turn on their flashers before getting out of the car.
