PR News Salary Survey: Writing Still Most Important Skill for Advancement | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

According to PR News’ 2015 Salary Survey, written communications (57 percent) and media relations (48 percent) are considered two of the top PR skills most important for advancement within an organization.

The survey, which took the pulse of 1,133 PR and marketing executives, also found that content creation (54 percent) trumped both crisis management (22 percent) and reputation management (32 percent) when it comes to skills most important for career advancement....

16 ultra-creative CVs / interactive résumés that catch the eye | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Pretty much everybody has created a CV / résumé at some stage in their life. As with most forms of content I think the key is to establish a tone of voice, and try to stand out from the surrounding noise.

I always used to put ‘vinyl junkie’ in the ‘interests’ section on my CV, which always worked a treat in interviews regardless of the role. People would ask me about my passion for music. I’d return the serve by asking the interviewer the same thing. These things can help to break any ice, and I think you should habitually ask plenty of questions in interviews, for all sorts of reasons.

Nowadays there are more opportunities than ever to attract the right kind of attention, and creative professionals in particular can go the extra mile to make an impression. I thought I’d collect a bunch of examples, which may inspire you to do something different...

This past Thursday the HR teams at Twitter and NPR collaborated in the first live #NPRTwitterChataimed at helping job seekers use social media as a job search tool.

The chat was centered on six questions that received over 800 tweets from industry professionals all over the U.S., and even some from New Zealand and the UK. Below is a recap of the topics covered in the chat as well as tips you can use in your own job search.

How Recruiters Are Using Social Media To Find (And Hire) Hidden Talent | AllTwitter

How Recruiters Are Using Social Media To Find (And Hire) Hidden Talent | AllTwitter | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Did you know that 84 percent of recruiters use social media to recruit candidates that might not have otherwise applied, and, in 2012, companies are expected to use social media to recruit for more than 80 percent of job openings?

Moreover, 7 out of 10 employers have successfully hired a candidate through social media, and, since implementing social recruitment, almost half (49 percent) have received more applicants to choose from.

Social networks such as Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn have made a huge impact on the business strategy of companies across almost every industry, and recruitment is no exception. By proactively targeting ‘passive’ job talent through social channels – relying on vacancy postings and other applicant tracking systems attracts just five percent of the workforce – firms can widen their reach and dramatically improve the quality of their workforce.

This infographic takes a closer look at the new age of recruitment.
