Yes some companies or some hiring managers still do ask unique interview questions. Every company and hiring manager has their own style and set of favorite questions.
What is important to know, is that questions like the ones mentioned in this article are still being asked. The question is what do you need to do to be prepared?
From my humble view: Most employers are looking to identify strengths in their candidates such as critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making.
The key is not to let the questions throw you off course. Stay true to who you are and remain professional. Use your critical thinking skills to explain how you arrived at a decision.

In several of our postings we have discussed the different type of interview formats as well as the different type of interview questions.
Behavioral Interviews ask questions surrounding not what would you do; however, how you specifically handled various situations. The questions are crafted with specific competencies in mind.
Our method for answering behavioral questions to keep you concise and to the point is by remembering CAR.
C - Describe the circumstances of the situation you were faced with A - Describe the actions and the people who you involved R - What was the result of the actions you took (here you want to mention how it impacted: Revenues, Costs, Customer Service, Relationships, etc.)

Take a look at this list of unconventional interview questions. I may have posted some of these questions in a previous post:)
The point is, every interview will be different.....of course, because every organization, culture, job, interviewer, and method of interviewing is unique.
The best tip is to prepare three things:
yourself (know why you are the best person for the job).
The organization and if possible the interviewer (research the organization, their history, clients, reputations, mission, vision, values, etc.) be prepared to answer the question...why do you want to work here?
Lastly, research the job (go through every bullet in the job description, and be prepared to answer questions relating to each task) That also means as this article states: prepare yourself for the unexpected. If the position you are interviewing requires crtitical thinking skills (regardless of the questions asked -- come up with a method of responding to showcase your critical thinking skills.
The goal is to feel confident when you arrive to the interview so that you can focus on connecting, listening, and responding to interviewer in a genuine way.
