Premiere of Jazz Miniatures for Double Quartet. A Jazz Gallery commission.

Tickets Here

I'm extremely honored to have been commissioned a piece from The Jazz Gallery as part of their series "leading from the bass". The Gallery happens to be my favorite place to play and see music in the city, if you haven't been there this is your chance.

**Friday June 22nd and Saturday June 23rd, 2012 at The Jazz Gallery. 290 Hudson St. NY, NY 10013
Sets at 9 and 10:30**

Featuring Ben Wendel - saxophones and bassoon, Jason Rigby - saxophones, flute and clarinets, Satoshi Takeishi - drums and percussion, Sara Caswell - violin, Antonia Nelson - violin, Lois Martin - viola, Jody Redhage - cello and Alexis Cuadrado - bass

The Jazz Miniatures are series of pieces for string quartet and chord-less jazz quartet together. If you’re wondering what Große Fugue, Ornette Coleman, Hungarian Gypsy music, Flamenco vocalist Camarón de la Isla and the Beatles’ Piggies have in common, you will just have to come and check it out live!.

Big Band Premiere: Finalist at the BMI jazz composer's annual Charlie Parker Composition Competition

This has been my second season at the BMI composer's workshop, lead by the amazing Jim McNely and Mike Holober. This year my new piece "Hispalis" is a nominee for the 2012 BMI Charlie Parker Composition Competition/Manny Albam Commission, which is something like the "Big Band Oscars". This is a great deal for me, as the level of musicianship in this workshop is extremely high. The concert is free, and your presence will be greatly appreciated!

Thursday, June 28, at 7:30 PM
Christ-St. Stephen Church - 120 W. 69th Street (btwn. Broadway & Columbus Ave.) New York, NY
