Indigenous Peoples and the Commons - P2P Foundation

Indigenous Peoples and the Commons - P2P Foundation | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

"the new commons movement ... risks making a similar “category mistake”  about the commons that could foster its own enclosure‐like injustices. The mistake is in believing that  the “cultural commons” is a monolithic, unitary concept for describing a set of shared resources  collectively owned by everyone."

Heritable Innovation Trust - an alternative to the intellectual property system

Heritable Innovation Trust - an alternative to the intellectual property system | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

The Heritable Innovation Trust (H.I.T.) is framework developed as an alternative to the intellectual property system that is held under contract law, giving it a more flexible structure to allow for the consideration of innovations with communal stewardship and adapted over time. By operating under contract law and with an end-user-license agreement, the H.I.T. does not have the same jurisdictional limitations that patent, copyright, or trademark filings do. H.I.T. teams are invited to companies and communities around the globe to become experts on the culture and innovations of their hosts all of which is then documented into the trust repository that exists both in book form and as an online database.

Lost Tradition of Biblical Debt Cancellations - P2P Foundation

Lost Tradition of Biblical Debt Cancellations - P2P Foundation | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

"THE once-glowing core body of law within the Judeo-Christian Bible has become all but ignored - indeed, rejected - by the colder temper of our times. This core provided for periodic restoration of economic order by rituals of social renewal based on freedom from debt-servitude and from the loss of one's access to self-support on the land. So central to Israelite moral values was this tradition that it framed the composition of both the Old and New Testaments.
