Noam Chomsky: The Singularity is Science Fiction! - YouTube

Dr. Noam Chomsky is a famed linguist, political activist, prolific author and recognized public speaker, who has spent the last 60 years living a double life -- one as a political activist and another as a linguist. His activism allegedly made him the US government's public enemy number one. As a linguist he is often credited for dethroning behaviorism and becoming the "father of modern linguistics" (and/or cognitive science). Put together his accomplishments are the reasons why he is often listed as one of the most important intellectuals of the 20th century. And so I was very much looking forward to interviewing him on Singularity 1 on 1.

As long as A.I. is controlled by humans it is more a new type of slavery in a crude way. But in general the singularity is a bad joke. From the myth of abundance among greedy people fighting for control. To the myth of utopia created, when one persons perception of utopia may be another persons hell so to say. ( Or utopia is a perception that is different for each person ) There is a good list of reasons the so called singularity will not happen as most say or predict.

Fourth Singularity - P2P Foundation

Fourth Singularity - P2P Foundation | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

"If weapons were the trigger for our language, both continued to evolve together until they were almost inseparable, so much that we now live within their complex entanglement. Even more refined than military weapons, I believe that the mother of all weapons is now invisible, immaterial and essentially logical: that is Capital and Money. Unlike the previous Singularity where weapons were used by dominated peers in order to threaten the dominant ones, the monetary weapon is now exclusively in the hands of the dominants (that is not the elites). Moreover, by driving the technological development, this weapon is becoming an instrument of total domination. Indeed, Capital — traditionally seen as the accumulation of stocks and means of production — has been suddenly dematerialized in the form of complex economic and symbolic values activated by robots and Artificial Intelligence working for an ever smaller number of people; i.e. the Vectorialist Class which owns the vectors of our interactions (Wark 2004).

Amidst the rapid changes of society ranging from general advances in science and technology to politics and social policy, with respect to knowledge, there is an emergent issue that promises to radically change our lives and our reality. It is predicted that within less than 20 years, the human lifespan will be extended to perhaps 150 or more years. Scientists and futurists on the cutting edge of thought about science and society believe that the increase in lifespan is one step towards what will be known as the Singularity, at which time, life might be extended indefinitely depending upon environmental conditions. The Singularity is the term used for a technological integration unheard of; it is a theoretical future point of unprecedented technological progress, caused in part by the ability of machines to improve themselves using artificial intelligence. Futurists are basing their claims upon the concept of accelerating returns which shows that over time, technology increases exponentially rather than linearly. In other words, the amount of time for a new idea to be developed into a technology and for that technology to become available is decreasing in an exponential acceleration. Integral to the concept of acceleration is that the power of the technology accelerates as technology is used for advance. The overall, actual production of the process, as I have described it, yields an astronomical increase in technological capability such that it seems impossible to predict what will happen beyond the “event horizon” of the Singularity. In other words, in the future, the acceleration is expected to increase because of the ability of artificial intelligence to expand and thus curl back on itself and begin to develop itself working with both common reality and virtual reality.

Singularity 1on1 Jeremy Rifkin on the Zero Marginal Cost Society and the Decline of Capitalism SD

I uploaded this video to translate it. It contains very important information that I would everyone in the world can listen to and reflect on. I can only translate to ...
Vivalist's curator insight, July 28, 2015 8:23 AM

I usually do not share political thoughts on this curation page, but

Rifkin is the man... he could be seen as an economic's philosopher :)

He is not afraid to actually try to create the framework in which the possible solution to today's societal challenges could emerge and develop.

We Are Approaching The Economic Singularity - Business Insider

We Are Approaching The Economic Singularity - Business Insider | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

But before we turn to the chapter, I want to note that this year for the first time we are not requiring Strategic Investment Conference attendees to be accredited investors. A change of venue that gives us a little more room and a shuffling of the speaking schedule allow us to open the event to everyone. If you are from outside the United States, you will not have as much trouble getting accepted into the conference as you may have encountered in the past. I am really excited about this change and hope that we have a significant contingent of non-US citizens at the conference. The speaker lineup is certainly international in breadth.
