Florence is a bilingual city: its native tongue has always been double-edged in English and Italian. Florence embraces both languages not because it needs to, but as a vehicle of endless exchange, creation, sharing and learning. Florence receives, through tourism, study abroad and international attention, but now it is time for it to give. The new Renaissance—when it comes—will be bicultural and it will extend well beyond the city. Florence is the muse and means for a movement that reaches out to Italy lovers, Italians abroad and patrons of the arts worldwide.
To this end, there’s a new bilingual magazine on the horizon: TheFLR. The Florentine Literary Review.
TheFLR is a magazine featuring engaging and entertaining short stories, plus two collectible poems. Tales and verses by Italian authors will be published for the first time alongside the finest English translations.
