The US subsidiary of Germany's Atlas Elektronik announced on 24 November that it has reached a deal to acquire the business of Marine Sonic Technology Limited (MSTL). The companies did not release the terms of the deal.
Yorktown, Virginia-based MSTL specialises in high-resolution side scan sonar systems.
"This acquisition will allow both organisations to enlarge and improve their research, development, and manufacturing capabilities in the realm of marine technology," Martin Wilcox, president of MSTL, said in a statement.
In a statement, Atlas North America chief executive Sergio Diehl said that the move would help allow the company to designate some products as US-made.
