This...is a German language thing that's new to me (so do correct me if I've got this wrong, meinen Deutschen Freunde). So when you're speaking about someone who's not present, there are several options. You could say something like:
"Have you seen Knud Bielefeld?" or "Have you seen the Knud Bielefeld?" or "Have you seen the Bielefeld Knud?" or (very rarely) "Have you seen Bielefeld Knud?"
...depending on where in the German-speaking countries you are.
I suppose the closest we come to this in English is saying "that Clare" - but we wouldn't say the surname before the first name.
