Rollo feels like a cheerful, modern invention. But it's actually the name of a fierce Viking leader, the ancestor of William the Conqueror himself.

I was delighted to see this name featured today. I think Rollo is fantastic - it's full of rugged Norman charm, but it's also cuddly and roly-poly, and (as Abby says) a bit like a chocolate.

The name peaked in 1922 at #278, but was only given to 16 boys in 2015. Mayne could make a good nickname. Menard and Maynor are unusual variants. Maynor was given to 23 boys in 2015.
