Moodle plugins directory: Insert module at cursor

Moodle plugins directory: Insert module at cursor | Moodle and Web 2.0 | Scoop.it

Enables editing teachers to add activities and resources above the activity below the cursor

This plugin is an extension to the Moodle course editing functionality. It enables editing teachers to add activities and resources above the activity the cursor is hovering over.

At the present time, these resources are hardcoded in lib.php -- only the File and URL resources can be added. This may change with the addition of an administration interface in the near future.

Moodle plugins directory: Grade Me

Moodle plugins directory: Grade Me | Moodle and Web 2.0 | Scoop.it

Shows a teacher all of the assignments and manual quiz questions (essays and file responses) that have been submitted, but not graded.

The block is configured to work with groups that is, teachers will only see the assignments submitted by students if they are both members of the same group. You'll have to let me know if it works with courses that don't use groups at all.

You can install the block on the Front Page and it will show ungraded assignments for ALL courses, and if you put the block on a course page it will only show the ungraded assignments for that course.

Moodle plugins directory: oohoo - Text to Speech

Moodle plugins directory: oohoo - Text to Speech | Moodle and Web 2.0 | Scoop.it

This block adds text to speech functionality to Moodle

It can be configured to use either the Google speech engine or the Microsoft speech engine. When added to a resource such as a page, it reads the contents.

There is also a lexicon to add pronunciations for words that it pronounces improperly. For example, it could possibly say I.V. for the text IV. It should, however, say 4. You could add in the lexicon IV = four and it willpronounce it properly.

Moodle Plugins Directory: Online Audio Recording

Moodle Plugins Directory: Online Audio Recording | Moodle and Web 2.0 | Scoop.it

Finally putting an end to the need for a streaming server (or a Java applet) to allow students to record audio clips for Moodle assignments, the Online Audio Recording assignment uses Flash (10.1+) to record audio from a microphone, convert it to MP3 format and upload it to Moodle via HTTP POST.

Installation note: since this is an assignment type (not a standalone plugin),it needs to be placed in /mod/assignment/type/ - not straight in the /mod/ directory.

How to use the sharing cart

One challenge Moodle admins and users often run into is how to best replicate content across the different courses of their Moodle. For instance, you might want to put the same document on your Year 7 IT course, your Year 8 IT course, your Year 9 IT course, and so on.

You can accomplish this through hard work repeating the action over and over, or by backing up and restoring courses, but all your teachers may not know or be inclined to do this, which is where the Sharing Cart comes in.

The Sharing Cart is a lot closer to the “copy & paste” functionality users will be familiar with – you can copy resources to the cart from one course, then out of the cart into another course with just a few clicks.

The Sharing Cart plugin is available for free, so you’ve no excuse not to install it and give it a go.

Moodle plugins directory: Media collection

Moodle plugins directory: Media collection | Moodle and Web 2.0 | Scoop.it

Media collection is an activity that enables users to create galleries (of image/audio/video). The galleries themselves have many display options the user can choose such as displaying in a grid or carousel, and defining the number of items to show per row/column and such.

Each item can have metadata supplied (title, publisher, medium, production date, etc).

When viewing a gallery, selecting an item brings up a lightbox interface that allows the user to view a larger version of the item along with the metadata. Social options are also visible in the lightbox interface (liking & commenting).

Atto Plugin Template now available from @poodllguy | Moodle and Web 2.0 | Scoop.it

Justin Hunt’s (@Poodllguy) recently released a Plugin Template for working with Atto, the new Moodle text editor introduced this week in Moodle 2.7. Justin’s Poodll plugins provide a lot of options right in the text editor. With the switch to Atto each needs to be updated (including the Youtube Anywhere for Moodleplugin).

If you’re working on a new plugin for Atto check out Justin’s post here: https://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=260165 (in addition to a follow up with additional tips from Andrew Nichols).

The Template can be found at https://github.com/justinhunt/moodle-atto_newtemplate

Moodle Plugins Directory: Dataform view

Moodle Plugins Directory: Dataform view | Moodle and Web 2.0 | Scoop.it

A block to display dataform content on the course page.

As its name suggests, the dataform_view block allows the instructor to display in a block a selected dataform view. The flexibility of the dataform views allows for a variety of applications. For instance, with the dataform's Interval view type, the content of the dataform block can be made to change periodically, sequentially or randomly, for purposes such as 'Quote of the Day', 'Weekly news', 'Random pic' etc. With the dataform's Fancybox view, the dataform block may be used to populate to the course page complete photo galleries. Since the content of a view is constrained by user permissions, the dataform block may be used to display on the course page restricted information to user's eyes only.

Moodle Plugins Directory: Collapsed Topics

Moodle Plugins Directory: Collapsed Topics | Moodle and Web 2.0 | Scoop.it

An interchangeable topic or week (day for 2.3.1+) based format that solves the issue of the 'Scroll of Death' when a course has many topics / weeks. All sections except zero have a toggle that displays that section. One or more sections can be displayed at any given time. Toggles are persistent on a per browser session per course basis but can be made to persist longer by a small code change. Full installation instructions, code adaptions and credits are included in the 'Readme.md' file.

If you have a course with more than fifty two sections then currently the toggle persistence will not work for the fifty third section and above.  Then you need to upgrade to the Moodle 2.5 version+.

Moodle Plugins Directory: Auto Attendance

Moodle Plugins Directory: Auto Attendance | Moodle and Web 2.0 | Scoop.it

These Auto Attendance block and module are modification of the Attendance block/module of Mr. Dmitry Pupinin (v1.0.8, 2007).

In addition to the manual attendance mode to take attendance manually the original, automatic attendance mode (from the access log of Moodle) and semi-automatic attendance mode (user clicks a link) are also possible.

It is strongly recommended a combination of Auto Attendance block (autoattend) and Auto Attendance module (autoattendmod).

Moodle Plugins Directory: Realtime Quiz

Moodle Plugins Directory: Realtime Quiz | Moodle and Web 2.0 | Scoop.it

Each student receives each question at the same time with a time limit to answer it (default 30 seconds). In between each question the correct answer is displayed, along with the number of students giving each answer (and some statistics about the percentage class / individual correct answers). This allows each question to be discussed before moving on.

Teachers can review the answers, once the quiz is finished, to identify any areas that need to be covered again.
