Understanding Web 2.0 Embed Codes

Understanding Web 2.0 Embed Codes | Moodle and Web 2.0 | Scoop.it

In the world of educational technology, embed codes are often overlooked. However, the more you work with Web 2.0 sites, the more you need to know about embed codes. Embed codes are those really long strings of code that allow you to embed one site into another. A typical example would be embedding a Youtube video into your blog.

I use embed codes, or parts of the code, for all sorts of purposes but the main reason is to strip out all of the extraneous parts and only focus on the main content. For example, I might want to share a YouTube video but not include all of the suggested sites and other content. I might want to share a Slideshare presentation but I want the link to only be to the presentation…nothing else. As a teacher, this is a very helpful technique and I use it to bring focused content to the students.

Embedding & Linking SkyDrive files on Moodle

How to embed and link a PowerPoint on Moodle via SkyDrive and how it updates automatically. Can't imaging why anyone would want to listen to me for 14 minutes but here it is.

Did this in a school TeachEat and demonstrate how to embed and link a PowerPoint from Skydrive on to a Moodle course.

There is a nice bit at the end that shows the power of the cloud as I update the PowerPoint and the changes are instant...

The  added bonus is that it is all free!
