Moodle plugins: Slideshow

Moodle plugins: Slideshow | mOOdle_ation[s] | Scoop.it

This is a new block which creates a slideshow in the header of a site or course page.  It uses jquery/cycle to handle the image transitions. Jquery is also used to manipulate the DOM to reposition the block's node into the heading div of the page.

Since this is dependent on using moodle's built in jquery functions, it is not available for versions prior to 2.5.

Update: This block will work with the Clean theme on Moodle version 2.5.2 where MDL-41516 has been fixed.

Moodle plugins: Wiki export

Moodle plugins: Wiki export | mOOdle_ation[s] | Scoop.it

This plugin adds the ability to export Moodle wikis as either PDFs or epub documents.

It was developed by Davo Smith of Synergy Learning, on behalf of the Judicial Institute for Scotland

Usage

Once the plugin is installed, you can visit a wiki, then click on the new 'Export as epub' or 'Export as PDF' links that appear in the activity administration block (with javascript enabled, similar links are inserted on the top-right corner of the page).

Users with the 'mod/wiki:managewiki' capability also get a 'Sort pages for export' link, that allows them to choose the order in which pages will appear in the export.

There is an additional global setting which allows a copy of any wikis on the site to be sent (as a PDF) to a given email address, whenever they are updated (note, this will not export all wikis on the site the first time it is configured, it only sends those that have been updated since the email address was first entered).

Looks very useful! Improves the ability to mark a wiki and ensures no pages are missed.

Gute Idee, schon oft wurde ich gefragt, wie man die gemeinsame Arbeit im Moodle-Wiki exportieren könnte.

Moodle plugins: Videofile

Moodle plugins: Videofile | mOOdle_ation[s] | Scoop.it

Videofile is a Moodle 2.4+ resource plugin intended to provide teachers with easy handling of cross-browser compatible videos using Video.js. In most cases it should be enough to add .mp4 video files which will then play in an html5 player in modern browsers and in a flash player in older browsers.

Videofile and Video.js also supports WebVTT captions as well as a poster image that displays before the video is started. It works well with responsive themes.

Introduce Your Class To Mobile And Ubiquitious Moodle With QR Links

Introduce Your Class To Mobile And Ubiquitious Moodle With QR Links | mOOdle_ation[s] | Scoop.it
The QR Links plugin has received a lot of stability fixes in its latest release. QR Links lets you to involve physical spaces and mobile phones in your Moodle experience. With a little creativity you can get your version of subject-savvy Pokémon Go!

Did you know: When students activities involve physical spaces, not only their spatial skills improve. Improvement in spatial skill tends to improve basic math skills such as arithmetic. This according to an article published in the Developmental Psychology Journal.

Besides providing an easy way for your students to access, save and share part of your course, QR codes have proven to be an easy and flexible solution to many related information problems. So why should learning be the exception?

Moodle plugins: Image drag & drop

This plugin automatically uploads images dropped into Atto (from your computer) as though you'd stepped through the process of inserting an image, choosing to upload a new file.

Note that this only works in browsers which support dropping files into the page - IE10+, Firefox, Chrome, Safari and Opera.  Other (or older) browsers will typically open the dropped file instead.

Moodle plugins: MindMap Course

Moodle plugins: MindMap Course | mOOdle_ation[s] | Scoop.it

WIth MindMap Course, Moodle becomes a first LMS which allows students for using courses through interactive, personalized mindmap. Additionally, it provides features unavailable in standard Moodle so far, which are: 1) graphical presentation of conditional dependencies and 2) distinction of modules where student have problems (and which are near deadline). Map files can be downloaded, they are compatible with Freemind software.

Map is interactive. Users can enter course elements (like sections, modules, lesson and book pages) directly from map. Elements which were not visited by user are distincted with bold font. There are displayed arrows, which describe conditional activity dependencies. Modules, where a particular student has problems, and available time is running out, are appropriately highligthted as well.

Map files can be downloaded and opened in Freemind software, what gives teachers additional features. For example, to create a task for students teacher downloads a map and change it, for example move some elements, add invalid elements, create (or not) a list with elements possible for using. Students task will be getting map to the correct content.

This app requires Java and Flash to work.
