Windows 8, although has the option to create Wireless ad-hoc connections, the direct interface to create it is missing unlike Windows 7. We had detailed a method to create a wireless ad-hoc network in Windows 8 using the command prompt. There are many third party tools like Virtual Hotspot, Connectify or mHotspot to create ad-hoc connection. Virtual Router Plus is another freeware and portableapp which turns any Windows 7 and Windows 8 computer into a Wi-Fi Hot Spot using Wireless Hosted Network technology.

The application has a simple interface where you can set the SSID, password and also select the shared connection.

Virtual Router Plus is a free, open source software based router for PCs running Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows Server 2012.

Avec Windows 7 et le logiciel gratuit Connectify, vous pouvez transformer votre portable en point d'accès WiFi et permettre à d'autres utilisateurs d'utiliser votre connexion pour accéder à Internet.

Le logiciel gratuit Connectify vous permet de transformer votre ordinateur portable relié à Internet par la prise Ethernet en hotspot WiFi, de manière totalement sécurisée. N'importe qui (disposant des informations de cryptage) pourra alors se connecter sans fil à votre ordinateur faisant office de point d'accès et donc à Internet.

Notez que Connectify va vous permettre également de partager votre connexion WiFi avec d'autres personnes, même si vous êtes déjà en train d'utiliser cette connexion sans fil pour accéder à Internet.

Connectify nécessite Windows 7 pour fonctionner. Ce dernier doit donc être installé sur votre portable. Concernant les ordinateurs souhaitant se connecter au point d'accès, peu importe leur système : Windows XP, Vista, Linux, iPhone, Windows Mobile, Androïd, etc.
