Commitment, Alignment; collaboration; versatility and communication and the words that define  transformational leadership today  ; Quote from the article: Multi-speed business realities also mean that we must re-assess what leadership is fundamentally about, how we describe it ..." Death defines new reality ... hint it ain't sitting in your office and choosing who to respond emails too ... buckle up and join the 21st century.

#HR Encouraging #leadership over management - iQualify UK

#HR Encouraging #leadership over management - iQualify UK | #HR #RRHH Making love and making personal #branding #leadership | Scoop.it
As defined by Stephen Covey, “Effective leadership is putting first things first” while “effective management is discipline, carrying it out”. This offers a brief glimpse on how leadership is different from management. We try to define a leader on the basis of a plethora of qualities such as; a leader should have the charisma, is a motivator, a good listener, a visionary and should be responsible. Leaders can motivate as well as direct people towards the goals and also find out ways for achieving them. Leaders also have the willingness to accept responsibility not only for their own decisions, but also for the decisions of their subordinates. Thus, an effective leader would refrain from passing the buck when it comes to taking the onus for the executed work.

#HR How To Nail It Every Time

#HR How To Nail It Every Time  | #HR #RRHH Making love and making personal #branding #leadership | Scoop.it
No person in the world can do two things equally well at the same time. It’s not possible. As a matter of fact, both tasks will probably suffer.
Ricard Lloria's insight:
(From the article): How To Increase Your Focus And Nail It:

 1. Daily goals. Decide in advance what your 3 to 5 biggest objectives of the day are going to be.

 2. Peak Time. Everyone has times during the day where they feel their best, have more energy and are most effective. Plan your most difficult projects during this time.

 3. No Communication Zones. If possible, establish times of the day you will not take phone calls or answer email. Focus in on your project.

 4. Mini-Milestones. Establish small targets you must get to before you stop working or take a break. Most experts agree 90 minutes straight through before a break is optimal.

 5. Batch. Put smaller tasks such as phone calls, e-mails and errands together in one single session.

 6. Early Bird. If possible, get up at 5am and go straight to work on your most difficult or important task. Most of my clients who do this get more done before 8am than other people get done all day.

 7. Pick Up Tempo. You must stay focused on the task at hand when you do this but walk faster, talk faster, type faster, read faster. Do it right, nail it and then go home sooner with more accomplished.

Has a quiz too. This is great for any person that mamages people, or a College student working in groups. good to know.

Tony Palmeri's curator insight, October 24, 2015 12:34 PM

I scooped this article because it relates to the concepts of leadership style detailed in the book "SuperVision". Yes, all leaders have a tendency to favor a particular leadership style, however, different methods are justified in different circumstances (especially in education). Something profound in this article is the idea that it is MORE difficult to transition from a democratic style to a authoritarian style of leadership. I also believe, that participative, shared leaderhship should be the default. When trust is cultivated with shared leadership it is more likely that staff will have faith that authoritarian decisions are done in the best interests of all.

Many a ship’s captain has believed that lie, and many of their ships have ended up stranded on a sandbar or dashed against a reef.

In the same way, there are lies that leaders are tempted to tell themselves every day. And some of these can shipwreck their leadership too.

#Leadership How to Mentally Prepare for a Difficult Conversation | #HR #RRHH Making love and making personal #branding #leadership | Scoop.it

How can you mentally prepare for a difficult conversation? You’ll want to think about the logistics (where and when you meet) and your strategy (how will you frame the problem and what you’ll say first). But getting ready emotionally is perhaps the most important work you need to do before you get into the room. Here are a few things you can go do to get ready.

The human ingenuity within any organisation are it's greatest competitive advantage. Yet according to the latest statistics, over half of todays workers are disengaged . When leaders are committed and actively working to engage, inspire and embolden – they unleash untapped potential and raise the bar not just on productivity, but on the value their organization contributes to all stakeholders.

I've been reading "Real Influence" by Robert Ullman and John Goulston (http://www.amazon.ca/Real-Influence-Persuade-Without-Pushing/dp/081442015X), and they talk about the importance of connecting authentically.  In Real Influence, Ullman and Goulston refer to this authenticity as "Connected Influence".

Tony Palmeri's curator insight, October 24, 2015 12:40 PM

"...Human ingenuity within any organization is it's greatest competitive advantage". This quote alone made me scoop this resource. How do we tap into the resource that is our staff? Engaging with them in the classroom and in the hallways to build communication capacity is important. Inspiring staff to take risks is a tricky enterprise - leaders must value this sort of behavior. This means that attempts which result in failure must be cherished, not scrutinized as they often tend to be.
