Easily Curate Thematic Video Channels with Rockpack (iOS)

Via Robin Good
Henrik Safegaard - Cloneartist's insight:
The app that makes it easy to create, share and subscribe to personalized video channels. Add your favorite videos from across the web with just one tap.

People are always looking for new ways to express themselves, especially online, and Rockpack provides a unique way for users to do so.

Robin Good's curator insight, July 5, 2013 9:51 AM

Rockpack is a free iOS app for iPhones and iPads which allows you to easily clip and organize together video clips already published online.

Similar to Flipboard and Pinterest, it provides a one-click operation to add any YouTube video to one of your video channels.

Rockpack integrates with Twitter and Facebook and it allows you to follow your favorite channels easily. A browser bookmarklet is also availanle for desktop use.

My comment: A quick way to easily create thematic video channels based on existing published material. Easy to use.

Free to use.

NEW: Curate YouTube Playlists with New Intro and Outro Video Feature

NEW: Curate YouTube Playlists with New Intro and Outro Video Feature | Machinimania | Scoop.it

For some of you this is very inetersting news.

Check out the new future on Youtube.

@safegaard

Robin Good: YouTube has just introduced a great, valuable feature to its playlist service, by allowing playlist authors to add short video clips at the beginning, end and in between any clip, to contextualize, introduce or explain what has been seen or is coming up next.

From the original article on TheNextWeb: "YouTube decided to help out the community a bit by releasing a new intro and outro feature that lets you insert professional clips in between your videos easily.

YouTube Engineer Eric Lundberg said: "You can choose from a variety of styles for text introductions and even add royalty-free music tracks. Interstitials will appear as unlisted videos in your account, and are eligible for monetization if they are at least 15 seconds long."

These particular features allow video creators to tell a full story in a series of videos. Even if you’re not making your own videos, creating a playlist is a way of providing a valuable service to the community."

This is a great addition for video curators who can now add their viewpoint, comments and context to any video compilation they decide to assemble.

N.B.: You can choose from a variety of styles for text introductions and even add royalty-free music tracks. Interstitials will appear as unlisted videos in your account, and are eligible for monetization if they are at least 15 seconds long.

The interstitial video clips can be recorded directly from you webcam.

Curate Your Personal Clips Into a Shareable Video Mashup with Ptch

Robin Good: Ptch is a new free iOS app that allows you to "curate" your favorite pics and clips from your own library and social stream into an audio-video mashup that you can share with anyone.

From Mashable: "Ptchis an app for iPhones and iPads that lets users combine photos and video clips into a one-minute or less “Ptch” that can be shared instantly.

Users can add styles and music to a Ptch, and friends can “reptch” or edit videos by adding their own media.

Launched in July, Ptch takes the concept of Instagram to another level by letting users mash their media together with tone and expression. The app is designed to capture users’ experiences in real-time, and also let friends mix in media of their own experiences.

...

Creating a Ptch is simple – select your favorite photos and video clips, choose a style (original, matte, epic, soho, vivid, fillmore, kane or kaskade) to make your Ptch more powerful and then pick a song from the app’s music list. Users can also create titles for their photos.

Once the Ptch is done, press play and share it on your stream or with friends via email, Facebook and Twitter. You can also make your Ptches private if you don’t want to share them."
