I really like the transmedia storytelling idea, but simultaneous transmedia? i'm not so sure...what happens to the unfiltered narration experience? i'm more for the before and after. unless films are actually written with transmedia in mind. simply transmedia-ing existing films won't work. at least not for the core story.

It's odd that in marketing we got so caught up in 'channels', that someone needed to coin the term 'transmedia' to give us the permission to break free. These guys have a shoe string budget and look the world and say 'I've got something good to share with you' or 'you know what would be cool', then they do it. No over-thinking or analysis, they just use whatever they can to share the story, and the story becomes conversation, and everyone has fun.

A Solitary World — a breathtaking homage to H.G. Wells, with text adapted from five of his most celebrated works: The Time Machine (1895), The Island of Dr. Moreau (1896), The First Men in the Moon (1901), In The Days of the Comet (1906), The World Set Free (1914). Read by Terry Burns and featuring an appropriately haunting score from the young British composer Lennert Busch, the film belongs to — pioneers, perhaps — an emerging creative genre: the cinematic poem.

This is an unusual one. But I really enjoy reading the works of H.G. Wells and upon viewing this, I felt it kept to the quality of that author.

The graphic novel has undergone some permutations since 2009 and will be released ahead of the movie (which comes out in January) but not by much, so many readers will go into the movie cold, knowing not much more than who’s in it and the basic sense for plot that the trailers give. In the midst of the massive geek Mecca that is San Diego Comic-Con, the big Marvel Studios movie panel had all the theater of a presidential campaign rally. Tom Hiddleston appeared in costume as Loki, the bad guy from Thor, and rallied the crowd in character. Then: so many movie stars, including the full casts of the upcoming Captain America sequel and Guardians of the Galaxy. And just when it seemed like it was over, Joss Whedon, patron saint of nerds, walked out for a Steve Jobsian one-more-thing and introduced the first teaser for The Avengers sequel. Eight thousand fans, some of whom had been waiting in line since the night before, shrieked like their souls were being ripped from their bodies. Click to read it all -
