Hackathon: What does the bank of the future look like? – Silicon Luxembourg | #DigitalLuxembourg #Luxembourg | Luxembourg (Europe) | Scoop.it
The LHoFT in partnership with Temenos, and the support of the Ministry of State and Digital Lëtzebuerg initiative, is organizing the LTS Fintech Hackathon in Luxembourg. We asked to the LHoFT Foundation Team details on the initiative.

What is the purpose of your hackathon?

Over the course of the last weekend of June, 30 teenage students from the Luxembourg Tech School (LTS) will develop and present their answers to the question: “What does the bank of the future look like?” The students will be guided by various senior technology and business mentors from the local financial services industry. The Hackathon will be hosted by the LHoFT and the technical infrastructure provided by Temenos.

What do you expect from it?

Part of the role of the LHoFT is also to enhance knowledge regarding financial technology and digital trends. With this Hackathon, we are very much looking forward to see how these 30 teenage students from the Luxembourg Tech School (LTS), future customers and potential employees in financial services, will respond to this critical question: “What does the bank of the future look like?” Their needs and expectations, shaped by the technologies they use, will be different to ours. It is maybe the start of the next revolution.

Game of Code – Un Hackathon made in Luxembourg | Europe

Game of Code – Un Hackathon made in Luxembourg | Europe | Luxembourg (Europe) | Scoop.it

An Open Source Security Software Hackathon coming to Luxembourg | #CyberSecurity #Europe

An Open Source Security Software Hackathon coming to Luxembourg | #CyberSecurity #Europe | Luxembourg (Europe) | Scoop.it
The hack.lu team organizes an Open Source Security Software Hackathon on May 2nd and 3rd at the University of Luxembourg (SnT) in the JFK Building in Kirchberg.

This 2-day Hackathon is dedicated to free/open source software. The aim is to gather various developer groups to collaborate on challenging programming problems in the field of cybersecurity (from information sharing, network/system forensic, data mining challenges or even crypto-currencies).

“Since 12 years, our team organizes the hack.lu security conference, which brings many security professionals together. We have observed that many people and organizations create open source software to support their security activities, ranging from reverse engineering, digital forensic, incident response (DFIR), threat analysis to network security.

Many of the security tools are developed on a long-term commitment and they provide viable solutions to improve security globally. In order to support the continuity of innovation, development and integration of such open source security tools, we have decided to organize this Hackathon and bring people together”, explains Alexandre Dulaunoy from Hack.lu.

This a great way for me to generate a mini-unit for my Design class.  A class hackathon will limit the time frame to create divergent thinking. This enables students to put aside other issues like overthinking decisions. Then the students are able to practice convergent thinking by narrowing done ideas using thinking strategies such as SWOT analysis. Students will be able to work independently and collaboratively through digital technology to create a presentation with a prototype. Each student demonstrates to other members their strengths and improves their weakness through collaboration amongst peers and the digital community.
