The Chicago Sun-Times has laid off its entire photography staff, and plans to use freelance photographers and reporters to shoot photos and video going forward, the newspaper said.

Le Chicago Sun-Times a annoncé hier matin à ses photographes qu'ils étaient tous licenciés sur le champ. Le journal compte dorénvant utiliser des photographes indépendants et des journalistes rédacteurs pour proposer plus de vidéos.
Parmi les photographes licenciés: John H. Blanc, qui a gagné un prix Pulitzer en 1982.
Inquiétant pour la profession. Mais comment s'en étonner! Avec smartphones et tablettes, des tas de photos sont postées en direct par de simples citoyens témoins d'événements exceptionnels (Cf les attentats de Boston) ou moins exceptionnels.
