One of many design innovations during later is a so-called hamburger menu.

It is not edible!

And really have nothing to do with either burgers or fries.

 

It is a menu for selecting different choices, it is called hamburger menu for the symbol to be three vertical lines.

If you click on one of these, a menu or page will be folded out, where you can choose from a menu.

The three lines symbolize the two bread halves and the filling in the middle.

Have you ever wanted to sort the values of a value list by a third field, or been annoyed that value lists don’t handle non-indexed data? 

Maybe you sometimes wished it was possible to group data or to have the value list filter when you type characters, instead of jumping? I have!


I have been thinking about a solution to replace the native value lists with a custom and more flexible way.

With FileMaker 16′s new Card Window it is now possible!

This is a fairly bold idea, I know, but i think I’ve come pretty far.

Keeping track of their own temperature is easy using a weather station like Netatmo.

You install it in your home and check the current temperature on the phone.

 

But what if you like to save the temperature each day in a database?

 

You use FileMaker!


I have a Netatmo weather station myself and spent a couple of hours this morning to create a small FileMaker database to gather historical data.
