Information needs to move from one application to another with custom transformations unique to business processes, and somehow they need to extract valuable business intelligence. How did we get here?

I was recently studying for a test when I realized how much easier it would be if I could copy and paste what I thought was important and quiz myself on that material. So in order to do that, I created a quizzer file in FileMaker 12. It can be used on the desktop, iPad, or iPhone. I’ve made it available for download

I'm a singer. I love how songs can speak across boundaries of culture and time, bringing people together in a moment of powerful shared emotion. Every aspect of a song is important — including the melody, harmony, and rhythm — but more than anything, I care about the lyrics — that is, what a song has to say. That's why I sing: to tell a story. I'm captivated by the beauty and variety of popular songs from South America, such as pasillos from Ecuador, bambucos from Colombia, and merengues from Venezuela. Each story should hit them right in the heart. The question has always been: how? However, performance venues typically turn off the lights when a show starts, so audience members had to study the words before we began — and even then, they had trouble remembering what they read. I knew there was a better way. I create custom apps that solve unique business problems. One day I realized that the answer was right at my fingertips: I just needed to make the connection between my two worlds.

CoreScope is a free utility app created and managed by Mike Beargie. CoreScope allows the FileMaker Go developer to retrieve metadata, such as cellular carrier name and network connection type, from an iOS device. CoreScope works with the “round trip” process, which is easy as opening a URL and having a result returned to FileMaker via URL.
