The supply of teachers is failing to keep pace with the demand for primary education. According to the latest UIS (UNESCO Institute For Statistics)data, the world needs to create 1.7 million new teaching posts by 2015 to reach Universal Primary Education (UPE). In addition, 5.1 million teachers are expected to leave the profession and must be replaced. In total, 6.8 million teachers will be needed to ensure every child’s right to basic education.

El número de profesores no logra seguir el ritmo de la demanda de la educación primaria. Según las últimas estimaciones UIS (UNESCO Instituto de Estadística) de datos, el mundo necesita crear 1,7 millones de nuevos puestos docentes para el año 2015 para alcanzar el mínimo de educación primaria universal (EPU).
Además, se espera que 5.1 millones de maestros abandonen la profesión y deben ser reemplazados. En total, se necesitarán 6,8 millones de maestros para garantizar el derecho de todo niño a la educación básica.
