Doing real agile, especially in customer - vendor relationship, is challenging and as a result faking agile seems to be common than real agile. Unfortunately you lose most key benefits of agile by just faking it.Many vendors are using agile just as a marketing trick, they see fixed everything "agile" projects as a business opportunity and conveniently ignore the fact that faking it is bad for the customer. There are also many organisations doing fake agile internally because they would like to get the benefits, but are not ready to commit into changing their culture.Just using sprints to implement a 100+ page design document gives you limited benefits.
