Pod2g tweeted that he was able get untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.1 on his iPhone 4. Pod2g announced that he has achieved a successful untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.1 on his iPhone 4. He has been working hard enough to get the results ever since Apple released iOS 5.1 along with the New iPad 3 last month. Pod2g was giving frequent updates on twitter about the progress of jailbreak. Seems like untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.1 will be released very soon.

Apple released iOS 5.1 along with the release of The New iPad. iOS 5.1 has some major updates like Siri supporting Japanese language and some security updates. We have already discussed the redsn0w method of jailbreaking iOS 5.1 devices. Earlier we have discussed that iH8sn0w has managed to downgrade iPad 2 firmware from iOS 5.1 to 5.0.1. iH8sn0w has recently updated Sn0wbreeze to 2.9.3 which now support iOS 5.1 tethered jailbreak. This version of iH8sn0w includes many updates:

Brought back old firmware support in one release!
GUI Improvements
You can now build IPSWs with TinyUmbrella/iFaith blobs!
Removes OTA Updates/badge on iOS 5.x.x+ devices.
Added an IPSW Downloader
Built-in iREB functionality updated from newest iREB r5 module.
Custom Packages in Expert actually works now. :P
All supported firmwares in this release are untethered.
A5 devices are NOT supported at this time due to no public DFU/iBoot exploit.
