Since 2019, IFC’s Agri-Processing Resource Efficiency (APRE) program has been supporting South African agribusiness companies to improve resource efficiency and enable the sector to flourish, create more jobs and boost sustainable economic growth. The APRE program is supported by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).
This IFC clip shows how agribusinesses are making South Africa's agriculture sector more water efficient - at present, farming consume around two-thirds of the country's water. Firms such as Westfalia fruit, a major supplier of avocadoes, are looking at making agriculture more sustainable and in partnership with the IFC at looking to strengthen public-private partnerships.
