Latest World Economic Outlook describes shock of coronavirus pandemic as ‘like no other’

The latest edition of to the World Economic Outook from the IMF is forecasting a substantial depression akin to the Great Depression of the 1930s. It describes the coronavirus as a pandemic "like no other" - and it certainly represents a significant demand- and supply-side shock. 

 

Of particular interest are the growth forecasts for individual countries, with much of the developed world likely to see substantial decreases in GDP in 2020.
