If ever you want proof of inflation here it is: US discount store Dollar Tree is raising its prices to $1.25. Rumours that Poundland is going to follow suit are yet to be confirmed.

Inflation, it is what this is called. With the raise of pricing in the dollar tree from $1 to $1.25, it simply means that every profit will be increased in a quarterly rate. A small change can be a big move.

I've put this on the International Economics board because the impact of the supermarket price war on Latin American banana farmers. 

 

The implication is that a lengthy price war is going to have adverse developmental implications for some of the world's poorest farmers, with Aldi, one of the discounters seen as perhaps the worst.
