This Guardian article flags up the extent to which internet access is now an important part of our daily lives across the world - and it might also shame developed country governments into improving their broadband provision.
However, Indian province Kerala is about to launch the Kerala Fiber Optic Network aiming to provide reliable internet access to all, starting with 14,000 of the province's poorest before rolling it out free to the exceptionally poor and then providing a range of affordable data packages for others.
Factor in the fact that this is being done by a Communist government and I'm tickled by the article's author asking whether or not developed economies governments have gone as far in providing this aspect of infrastructure.
