In today's post I am revisiting this visual we published in the past which features some important tips to help you become a better writer. These tips are collected from Stephen King's book  ‘On Writing: A Memoire of The Craft’ (contains Amazon affiliate link). They (tips) are less about writing mechanics and more about developing a writer's mindset. Stephen King's nuggets of wisdom are a culmination of his writing career which has spanned more than 2 decades and has resulted in numerous prestigious awards and blockbuster fiction publications.

In today's post we are sharing with you this collection of some excellent guides to help you with the teaching of writing and help your students improve their writing style. The collection comprises several classic titles and seminal works as recommended by Paul Silvia in his  popular book ‘How to Write a Lot: A Practical Guide to Productive Academic Writing”. 

What do you do when your students procrastinate: writing their essays until the very last-minute? You want to help them succeed. You want to see them grow. How can you help them when there is no essay to criticize? Life of a student is very busy. They just have so much going on in their lives. A typical day of a student starts with maybe a decent amount of sleep. Some exercise. A home cooked healthy meal, or not. Some reasonable hours of study time. So to squeeze in those extra hours to write a compelling essay is hard for them.

With respect, I must disagree with Mr. Zinsser. We all know the most important part of any article is the title. Without a compelling title, your reader won’t even get to the first sentence. After the title, however, the first few sentences of your article are certainly the most important part.

Journalists call this critical, introductory section the “lede,” and when properly executed, it’s the bridge that carries your reader from an attention-grabbing headline to the body of your blog post.
