Information and digital literacy in education via the digital path

Amanda Piekart (Director of Research and Instructional Services at Berkeley College, USA) and Jessica Kiebler (Instructional Services Librarian at Pace University, USA) have run their podcast The Librarian's Guide to Teaching since October 2019, and have now reached episode 34 (23 February 2021, Tech tools roundup "Amanda and Jessica review some tech tools that can be used by library professionals in the classroom"). Episode 33 was on Teaching about algorithms, episodes 31 & 32 covered 21 instruction tips for 2021. The website for the podcast is here https://librariansguidetoteaching.weebly.com/

"The purpose of the roles is to conceptualize and describe the broad nature and variety of the work that teaching librarians undertake as well as the related characteristics which enable librarians to thrive within those roles. These seven roles, which can and do overlap, are intended to help librarians situate our individual work experiences within the broader work of academic libraries and within academic communities, as well as suggest creative new areas for expansion."

Firstly, the Californian association for information literacy, LILi, has set up a page for sharing resources about teaching IL online. "Inspired by CCC COVID-19 Website Google Doc, Lifelong Information Literacy (LILi) created this blog post to collect online instruction information from all libraries in California. Please share in the form or comment below for discussions. The LILi Web Committee will summarize important information and resources in this blog as the situation evolves." This session is delivered by Manfred Gschwandtner who was a student on the MA library and information services management programme at the Information School, presenting his dissertation study, for which I was the supervisor. Manfred works at Canterbury Christ Church University, and became interested in teaching digital literacy following a change in his role description. He investigated how the faculty as a whole supported digital literacy, but this presentation focuses on the role of librarians.
