Gently stretching to reach all students: Inclusive learning through scaffolding and flexible pedagogy | Baer | College & Research Libraries News

Being flexible and responsive to students’ unique learning needs is a powerful skill in any teaching context, but it is perhaps especially valuable in one-shot library instruction, when a librarian has limited time with students and is often meeting them for the first time. Because librarians frequently enter the classroom with limited information about a class’s dynamics and its students’ current understandings, abilities, and interests, we often find ourselves needing to adapt in the moment of teaching more than we would if we had a more extensive connection to that class.

Flexible pedagogies: new pedagogical ideas | HE Academy

The report identifies six 'new pedagogical ideas' for the future of an increasingly flexible HE which offer new pathways for graduate attributes or capabilities". These are:
- learner empowerment;
- future-facing education (helping people "to consider prospects and hopes for the future across the globe and to anticipate, rethink and work towards alternative and preferred future scenarios");
- decolonising education;
- transformative capabilities ("using pedagogies guided by engaged, ‘whole-person’ and transformative approaches to learning");
- crossing boundaries (e.g. inter-disciplinary);
- social learning.

Flexible Pedagogies: technology-enhanced learning

Flexible Pedagogies: technology-enhanced learning | Information and digital literacy in education via the digital path | Scoop.it

This report has been developed as part of our research project Flexible Pedagogies: preparing for the future. Technology-enhanced learning is one of five main focus strands embedded within the theme of flexible learning. It offers a summary and analysis of the current state of play, as well as recommendations for developing robust and appropriate flexible pedagogies with a view to influencing policy, future thinking and change within the rapidly-shifting landscape of learning and teaching in HE.

Flexible pedagogies: part-time learners and learning in higher education

Flexible pedagogies: part-time learners and learning in higher education | Information and digital literacy in education via the digital path | Scoop.it

The need to develop new ways of learning has become a live issue, largely linked with the demand for increased flexibility of pace, place and mode of delivery. Increasing student fees, with the result that many more students may choose to work their way through HE, means that the sector needs to identify pedagogies that are going to empower student learning, offering increased choice, and above all, facilitate high quality provision.
