Google+ Is Now The Number Two Social Network In The World

Google+ Is Now The Number Two Social Network In The World | information analyst | Scoop.it

Reports now show that Google+ has surpassed Twitter in active users and is second only to Facebook.

A new report by Global Web Index shows that Google+ has surpassed Twitter in active users and is second only to Facebook.

Technically YouTube was considered #3 and Twitter came in at #4 by the numbers. Although it is good to note that Twitter is actually the fastest growing of them all, with 40% growthin the last quarter.

Interesting that G+ ranks #2 with so few people actually using it as a network. Shows the power of Google that everybody feel like they have to belong to it but so many don't use it :-) Nobody wants to get left behind.

Do you believe that Google+ moved ahead of Twitter?

GetVega is a Pinterest-Like Visual Clipping Tool - Check This Out!

GetVega is a Pinterest-Like Visual Clipping Tool - Check This Out! | information analyst | Scoop.it

Robin Good: GetVega is a Pinterest-like visual clipping tool, which allows you to create lists and visual collections of commercial products while easily capturing selective info relative to each one (cost, size, weight, price, etc.).

As I have been writing, one of the key next evolutionary areas for content curation tools, is the delivery format. It is on this front that there are lots of marvellous opportunities yet to be tapped. And GetVega is one of the first curation tools to do a great job on this front.

In fact, one key feature inside GetVega is the ability to display curated collections in one of three different visual formats, depending on the type of list and use you want to make of it. One such display format is extremely effective and valuable as it makes it easy to "compare" products and info within one collection.

GetVega provides a Google Chrome extension that allows you to easily clip one or more images from any product page, as well as any specific product info text or video.

Check out for example this curated collection of iPad alternatives: http://www.getvega.com/list/4f030465e91683175200a750-do-i-really-need-an-ipad You can see at a glance the different tools and their key specs.

Collections can be set to be either "public" or "private" and can be easily shared on

Similar "product curation tools" include:
Polyvore, Wanelo, Bagcheck, Curisma, OpenSky, Lyst

Recommended. 8/10

Network of data visualization references

Network of data visualization references | information analyst | Scoop.it
Developer Santiago Ortiz explores visualization references through Delicious tags and puts them in a discovery context. There are two views. The first is a network with tags and resources as nodes. At first it looks like a giant hairball, but mouseover and you get a fisheye effect to zoom in on nodes, which makes them more readable. Mouse over a tag, and the labels for related resources get bigger, and likewise, mouse over a resource, and the related tags get bigger.

The second view lets you compare resources. In the network, select two ore more resources, and then click on the bottom button to compare the selected.
