Zaha Hadid architects unveil their design for a pioneering new institute and genocide memorial in the Cambodian capital Phnom Penh, which will bring together a museum, research centre, graduate school, document archives and research library.

Overcoming their biggest challenge of integrating the surroundings with a weather-proof, contemporary glass design, architects Riyaz and Simeen Quraishi of Hyderabad-based design firm Moriq, have responded to the desire for a contemporary home (with lots of glass) insulated from the sweltering summers and damp winters. Deservedly so, the home in Hamala, Bahrain has, a few days back, won them the ‘Glass House’ category award at The International Design and Architecture Awards 2014.

Built on a thickly forested site at Alibaug, this weekend home is an exemplary model of sustainable living right from the choice of vernacular architecture and materiality to water harvesting and site treatment. In fact, only exposed patches on the site were chosen for construction thereby minimizing intervention to the natural topography… The home is designed by Malik Architecture
