This article is relevant to the subject and is the first step before the development of the "Peak Experience" theory. The theory shows the basic, psychological and self-fulfillment needs that motivate individuals to move through the different levels on our life.
The last step is the Self Actualization it's the level the we explore outside of our basic needs, and is the way to experience a peak experience in our life.

Maslow created a list of needs for humans and their importance.  He was a humanistic theorist. He believed that your physiological needs came first, as you can read in the pyramid. These needs are self-motivated.
