Thanks for posting this update. I just read the full research report from the study. It's disappointing to see that there was zero attention given to health, safety, and developmental concerns regarding the screen use. There needs to be greater connection across researchers in health, technology, and education http://bit.ly/screen_time

Interesting. Being at a BYOD secondary school, it is easy to see how computers that are always accessible can lead to challenges as the teacher competes for student attention. At our most recent English heads meeting one teacher was exploring whether it was worthwhile to invest in a number of iPads. Our consultant made an observation that iPads were like SMART boards. Everyone wants the bling in terms of the latest technology, and while iPads are portable, they are more about multimedia consumption over multimedia production. Laptops are ideal for constructing multimedia texts, but they also make a fine wall that teachers have difficulty seeing beyond. |

Hoy aprendí que el aprendizaje con tecnología móvil es una genial herramienta para llevar el aprendizaje fuera de las cuatro paredes del aula. A quién más le gustaría poder salir de eso límites más seguido?

I guess, this is another form of BYOD, and it is surely high time progressive schools around the world allowed students to bring in their own devices. Without naming the brand, it would be sufficient to consider the same brand across grades and classes!

It's time school districts quit trying to squash technology because they are afraid to use it. (OPS) The Complete Guide to Managing iPad in Education |
