JamieSue Goodman is reinventing and giving life to the education system, but teaching students (and teachers) useful skills that they are actually interested in. As an employee of Google, she has brought her knowledge and resources to 360,000 students. By creating an education curriculum around learning how to use everything Google, from Google Docs to Google Analytics, which is called Applied Digital Skills. These lessons are built around topics that actually interest students today, such as athletic-themed lesson; programming an extreme-sports game or recording sports commentary.
Comparable free education materials are also provided by Apple, they offer “Everyone Can Code and “Everyone Can Create”. Since Applied Digital Skills is Google based, it is accessible on every type of device (Mac or PC). This is a huge selling point for schools to go with Chromebooks over competitors. Students who are learning these skills will have a huge advantage throughout their education and when they enter the workforce. As humans’ priorities, motivations and intelligence evolve, education needs to evolve with us. Applied Digital Skills focuses on the 5 C’s for their students to enter the job market at their best; critical thinking, communication, collaboration, creativity and confidence. This type of education is technically available to everyone with internet access, but not all students in grades K-12 know about it or what to do with it. They should not need to create a curriculum for themselves when they are already attending school 6 hours per day, while feeling like they aren’t getting much out of it.

There is clear evidence that technology has changed the world where we are today. For that reason, the importance of including technological tools in the classrooms has increased considerably. Moreover, it is important to say that students need more than just know and use these technological tools; they need to develop some skills such as collaboration, willingness to try and fail among others in order to become the the leaders in technology of the future. Also, one of the main purpose of the teachers is to foster curiosity in their learners and inspire them to participate in the digital era. This article contains very important information for my future work as a teacher since it shows me how I can inspire my students to take an active participation not only in their learning process but also in the digital era in which they can share different knowledge and also, they can receive feedback about their work. Now, I am aware that including digital tools in my classes is not enough; I need to find ways to encourage my students to be future digital leaders.

These and many other tools are available. But if you are a teacher, what do you think? Is it really necessary to have all these skills? There is so much content readily available online and if you can organise to prepare materials in teams, or have access to a PLN on or offline, then you can share the load.
Some teachers and content creators have specific skills and their expertise can be used or accessed by anyone. Personally, I think it's good for teachers to be aware of the digital possibilities for their teaching context, but it is generally unrealistic for anyone to expect all teachers to become skilled in so many different areas.
Is it not better to pick fewer areas more relevant to you and focus on them? Be a master of a few areas useful to you, not a jack of all trades feeling stressed that you are master of none.

This website offered a variety of tools to teach someone of the uses of Google. The videos were excellent and very informative, the resources in which you can go back and look over materials to help incorporate with the use of Google was useful and teachers would benefit if they take a little bit of time and look over some of the material. Having available resources on hot to teach digital skills to students will only further help your instruction be more student-centered as kids rely more on their own intuitions and act on their own initiatives when doing their assignments.

Again, the important skill seems to be that we teach our students to think critically.
