Education ministers in Australia have endorsed the country’s new digital technologies curriculum which will now include teaching coding in primary schools. Starting from Year 5, primary students will learn coding and will eventually learn programming when they reach Year 7.

Que en unos países o escuelas se aprenda a codificar y en muchos otros ni siquiera dispongan de ordenadores no sino profundizar la desgualdad en el mundo. Y si lo que se persigue es que las próximas generaciones en 10-20 años se hagan sus propios programas (aunque imagino que menos los apasionados del tema que trabajarán para que las compañías de telecomuncaciones puedan seguir vendiendo software), por lo menos que el aprendizaje de la codificación sea un mero instrumento para adquirir otros conocimientos no necesariamente tecnológicos, como hacen por ejemplo en Beaver Country Day School, en Brookline Massachussetts, y no como la ha introducido el Ministro de Educación australiano, justo antes de pasarse al Ministerio de Industria, eliminando cada vez más las materias que hacen reflexionar sobre la verdadera realidad de los seres humanos. Qué lástima, con las cosas interesantes que estaban haciendo. Haber si por lo menos consiguen dar un empuje a la Media Literacy y pueden desarrollar el pnesamiento crítico y la capacidad de análisis del discurso. Al fin y al cabo, es la comunicación intervivos lo que maneja el mundo.
