While some may be able to coast into office with the promise of bringing jobs back from oversees, they fail to realize that there may be no jobs to bring back. Automation is set to replace 5 million human jobs by 2020, with poorer countries being impacted significantly more than developed nations.

A report put out in February 2016 predicted that 47% of US jobs are at risk of automation. In the UK, 35% are. In China, it's a whopping 77%. Stephen Hawking adds his voice to the growing list of scientists concerned about the effects that technology will have on workforce in the coming years and decades.
